The post war (post NAZI marked) Model Ds typically have a single letter prefix to the serial numbers. Those prefixes identify to what department the pistols were issued. There is a website on line that gives some basic information about it, but I'm too lazy to find it right now. 'Gunboard Forums' has a section dedicated to French firearms and there is specific information there as well. The Model D was the basic pistol issued to French national police agencies - including regular police, immigration and customs and so forth - from around WWII to the middle 1960s or so. I have one in my .32 ACP collection; it shows the highest velocity (with the same ammunition) of all my .32 ACP pistols. Accuracy is reasonably fair and the pistol has demonstrated no malfunctions in my limited testing. There is a full report on this pistol at my blog ' OldManMontgomery.wordpress.com '. You'll have to do a bit of searching for the essay - under the category 'Firearms and their use'. __________________ Except for Jesus, there is no free lunch. Archie the Preacher |
